Council is pleased to advise the street scape works at St Georges Road are ahead of schedule and have reopened to traffic in both directions today with the redevelopment works nearing completion.
The community will soon enjoy the improved lighting, new trees and on street parking in the St Georges Road Shopping Precinct between Hayes and Swallow Streets. Residents will also enjoy safer pedestrian movement in this area.
The improvements were made possible following a successful application by Council for more than $200,000 from the Public Safety Infrastructure Fund which is part of the Victorian Government’s Community Crime Prevention Program. Council also contributed approximately $110,000 toward the project.
Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor Kim O’Keeffe is pleased that another key project has been delivered for the Community with input from the St Georges Road Community Plan Group. Mrs O’Keeffe would also like to thank the local residents and retailers for their cooperation during the redevelopment works and hopes they enjoy the improved streetscape.
