2018 marks the centenary of the Armistice and we have a day of not only commemoration but also celebration planned for everyone.

REMEMBRANCE DAY SERVICE
10.30am at Shepparton Cenotaph in Welsford St
(one also being held at Mooroopna Cenotaph)

It will be a very moving service due to the added significance of this year being the centenary.
There will be a three-volley salute ending on the knock of 11am (replicating when the guns fell silent on the Western Front 100 years ago) and this will be followed by a minute’s silence.
The guest speaker is a local historian named John Gribben who will speak about a local soldier who, on his return from WW1, wrote a book called Jacka’s Mob which has often been referred to as the bible of First World War.

BACK AT THE SHEPPARTON RSL AFTERWARDS
This is open to absolutely everyone and we encourage you to come along and experience the true culture of the RSL which is camaraderie and mateship.
We will unveil and cut a special cake that is being cleverly created by Angela of Angie’s Cakes & Bakes. She has hand made a slouch hat and poppies to adorn the cake and we can’t wait to see the final product.
We’ll also have free live entertainment by master showman “The Real” Paul Hogan. He has planned a fantastic array of music to tie in with all the festivities
Plus we’ll put on some platters and free tea & coffee making facilities. This all kicks off at around noon.
