Greater Shepparton Townships Framework Plan Review 2019

The Greater Shepparton Townships Framework Plan Review 2019 (the Review 2019) was adopted by Council at the Ordinary Council Meeting held on 15 October 2019.

The Review 2019 updates the earlier Greater Shepparton Townships Framework Plan Review 2018 to include recommendations of the Planning Panels Victoria Hearing on Amendment C212, which implements the revised residential Framework Plans in the Greater Shepparton Planning Scheme.

Background

The Greater Shepparton Housing Strategy 2011 (the GSHS) was prepared by David Lock Associates Pty Ltd on behalf of Council to guide the future long term identification and provision of residential land within Greater Shepparton. The GSHS establishes a development framework in the Shepparton and Mooroopna urban areas, as well as the smaller townships within the municipality.

The Greater Shepparton Townships Framework Plan Review 2018 (the Review 2018) was prepared to evaluate and update the plans for the nine townships that the GSHS provided framework plans for, to complement and build upon the work undertaken through the GSHS to 2011, and to reflect rezonings and other changes occurring since for each of the townships within the municipality.

The Greater Shepparton Townships Framework Plan Review 2018 was adopted by Council at the Ordinary Council Meeting held on 18 September 2018. Amendment C212 was then undertaken to implement the recommendations of the Review 2018 into the Greater Shepparton Planning Scheme.

In response to submissions to the Amendment and discussions undertaken at the Planning Panels Hearing, the Review 2018 was updated to include Township Land Hazard Assessments, and some minor drafting changes.

The Minister for Planning gazetted the approval of Amendment C212 on 4 June 2020.
